We’re excited to welcome Sam Stein, Account Executive, to the Beam team! With almost 10 years of experience working in construction technology, Sam has seen countless contractors struggle with estimating and financial management. He's thrilled to help hundreds of contractors improve their businesses through easy-to-use products.
Tell us a little about your background—what led you to a career in construction technology?
I’ve been working with contractors for almost 10 years. I enjoy working with companies that are making an impact in the physical world. It’s energizing to improve the day to day operations of contractors by bridging the gap of tech & construction.
What excites you most about joining Beam?
The people you are building with is just as important as the product you’re bringing to the market. The folks at Beam are a wrecking ball of energy to improve the back office efficiency for contractors in a way that is approachable to all. Working with people like that is what initially drew me to Beam. Now that I’m here, seeing how contractors react to modern workflows for old school processes that other software providers have overlooked is the best part of my day.
In your experience, what are the biggest challenges contractors face?
Not losing their pants on a job. Costs change, material prices rise, 💩 hits the fan on every.single.project. Staying dialed into how those changes effect the project and business overall has historically been very difficult.
How do you see technology transforming the industry, and where does Beam fit in?
No contractor wants to be tied to a computer. Speech to text, video/pictures to documentation and other workflows that automatically take action (and keep a system of record from said actions) from what a contractor is seeing or doing in the field to the back office is where tech is driving the industry forward. Beam is at the tip of the iceberg leading that charge on the financial & estimating side. More to come ;)
If you could build your dream house, what architectural style would you choose, and why?
Whatever architectural style my wife wants. I’d kindly request the house incorporates indoor/outdoor living spaces and is accessible to a city while being in nature that the property seamlessly flows into. Trails out my back yard? Sign me up.
