We’re excited to welcome Kirsty Hunter, Business Development Rep, to the Beam team! Read on to hear how a lifelong connection to construction drew her to Beam’s mission and why she believes builders deserve tools that cut through the chaos, not add to it.
Tell us a little about your background—what led you to a career in construction technology?
I guess you could say construction is in my DNA - I grew up in a family where I was surrounded by construction, so it’s always been a big part of my world. While my career path initially led me through healthcare and e-commerce, entering the construction tech space felt like coming home.
What excites you most about joining Beam?
What excites me the most about joining Beam is being part of a team that’s building something I genuinely believe in. The product solves real, everyday problems for builders - something I’ve seen firsthand through my own family and personal experience in the industry.
In your experience, what are the biggest challenges contractors face?
In my experience one of the biggest challenges contractors face is juggling so many responsibilities at once - managing teams, budgets, timelines, clients and suppliers, often in a single day. With so much going on, even a small inefficiencies can cost time and money. That’s why tools like Beam, that simplify their workflow are game-changers!
How do you see technology transforming the industry, and where does Beam fit in?
Technology is no longer a luxury in construction - it’s a necessity for growth. It’s transforming the way contractors work by eliminating inefficiencies and freeing up time to focus on what’s next. Beam helps builders stay ahead - working smarter, not harder, and ultimately setting themselves up for success.
If you could build your dream house, what architectural style would you choose, and why?
If I could build my dream house, i’d go for a modern take on a traditional Scottish cottage. Being from Scotland, I’ve always loved the charm and character of the old stone homes nestled into the landscape. I’d keep the cozy feel but blend it with a clean and modern interior.
