We’re excited to welcome Andrew Morris to the Beam team! Read on to learn about his journey into the industry, what drew him to Beam, and why now is a pivotal moment for construction teams to modernize how they manage their finances.

Tell us a little about your background—what led you to a career in construction technology?

I never set out to build a career in construction tech.

After graduating college, I joined Fieldwire, a construction project management software company. There, I helped grow teams and programs that supported both the business and the product. Along the way, I found myself talking to customers multiple times a day.

Through those conversations, I realized how much I enjoyed working with construction professionals, both their personalities and the opportunity to help solve their technology challenges.

What excites you most about joining Beam?

What stood out to me was the team’s passion for building a product that simply works. Too often, construction software is built by teams who don’t understand the industry’s real problems. But when I spoke with Adam (CEO), Saliq (Operations), and Jerry (Engineering), it was clear they were deeply focused on solving a meaningful pain point with intention and clarity.

In your experience, what are the biggest challenges contractors face?

Construction is one of the five largest industries in the world—and also one of the slowest in headcount growth year over year. Helping replace pen, paper, Word, and Excel with digital tools is a critical part of modernizing the industry. Being part of that transformation - and helping attract the next generation of professionals - is one of the main reasons I enjoy working in this sector.

How do you see technology transforming the industry, and where does Beam fit in?

I believe the construction industry needs to adopt modern technology to attract the next generation of talent. While we’re starting to see more companies embrace new tools, there’s still a long way to go, and that momentum will only grow in the years ahead. Beam has a unique opportunity to become the financial operating system for construction teams of all sizes, helping them modernize critical financial workflows and operate more efficiently.

If you could build your dream house, what architectural style would you choose, and why?

If I could build my dream house, I’d choose a cabin-style home. The use of wood and the focus on comfort over fancy design make it the kind of place I’d actually want to live in - calm, quiet, and connected to nature.
